Democrats confirmed Harris as a candidate for Vice President of the United States

The democratic party of the United States officially approved Kamala Harris as a candidate for the post of Vice President of the United States. This is reported by CNN.

The decision was announced at the party’s Convention, which was held in a virtual format in the city of Milwaukee (Wisconsin).

55-year-old Harris became the first African-American woman nominated for Vice President of the United States. She intends to run alongside 77-year-old candidate and former us Vice-President from the Democratic party Joseph Biden. He is trump’s main rival in the upcoming us presidential election.

Biden introduced Kamala Harris as a candidate for Vice President of the United States on August 12. She is a Senator from California and a former state attorney.

Kamala Harris was born on October 20, 1964 in Oakland, California, to parents of immigrants from Jamaica and India. Her father is an economist, Professor Donald Harris. Mother is a researcher in the field of medicine Shyamala Gopalan. Harris studied political science and Economics at Howard University (district of Columbia), and then received a law degree. She is married to lawyer Douglas Emhoff, and the couple has two adopted children.

Earlier, the President of the United States Donald trump expressed surprise at the fact that the Democrats chose Senator Kamala Harris as a candidate for Vice-President of the country.
